Under the general supervision of the Director the Infant – Toddler Teacher will be responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, fun and thriving age appropriate environment.

Provide direct instruction to students using an established curriculum. This position must have working knowledge of “Creative Curriculum”, the Department of Early Learning Licensing Standards for Washington State, and UCiC’s School policies.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Support the Director in maintaining a quality program that upholds the standards, goals, and overall mission of UCiC.

  • Build a quality and intentional early learning environment, maintaining a well-functioning, safe classroom, outdoor play and nap time supervision.

  • Creatively solve problems and resolve concerns with students throughout the day, supporting fellow teachers and providing positive guidance to children.

  • Perform tasks independently in a timely manner without direct supervision.

  • Know and comply with the state regulations concerning a state licensed preschool knowing specifically how it impacts day to day duties and responsibilities in the classroom.

  • Represent yourself as a professional in Early Childhood Education and teacher to UCiC’s standards to students and their families.

  • Communicate effectively, respectfully and in a professional manner with the leadership of UCiC including the Administrative team, teachers and other UCiC Preschool staff.

  • Maintain flexibility and the ability to change direction quickly in response to a variety of situations that can occur in the classroom.

  • Being attentive to each child’s progress through observation and evaluation prepare progress reports for parents twice during the academic year.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Christian Commitment: Demonstrate Christian commitment and relationship with Jesus Christ while being active in a local church.

  • Education: Completed or in process of earning a two year degree in Early Childhood education or related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent. Experience: Must have a minimum of two years prior experience working with children.

  • Licensure/Certification:

    • Must have the following, or be willing to obtain upon hire:

    • Washington State required 20 hour basic training or show proof of a waiver.

    • Child/infant CPR and first aid.

    • HIV and blood borne pathogen training.

    • Food handlers’ card.

    • Proof of negative Tb skin test prior to the first day of work.

    • Other certifications as deemed necessary by the state for work in a licensed Early Learning and Early Education facility.
